To the attention of Heads of State and Government
The Secretary General of the UN in Geneva-Switzerland
The President of the European Union Commission in Brussels-Belgium
The President of the African Union Commission in Addis Ababa-Etshopie
Mr Prime Minister, Head of British Government in London
The President of Republic of France in Paris
The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in Abuja
The President of the Democratic Republic of Congo in Kinshasa
The Prime Minister and Head of Government of the DRC in Kinshasa
The President of the United States of America in Washington DC.
Your Excellencies,
We, members of the DR Congolese Diaspora Community in Nigeria, wish to use the medium of this protest march in Lagos, to vehemently denounce the United States of America, the Great Britain, Poland, France and the European Union for their unflinching material and financial support given to the Rwandan aggression against the Democratic Republic of Congo our country, for well over three decades.
This support to Rwanda has produced close to 15 million deaths, hundreds of thousand women violated, and more than 150,000 square Kilometers of land and forests, including its flora and fauna decimated. This same support has facilitated the free exploitation and plundering of our strategic minerals for more than thirty years.
We are profoundly shocked that, despite all reports from the United Nations Experts on the DRC indicting Rwanda and its president on the unfair aggression of our country, United States, Great Britain, Poland and France, all countries known as champions and Defenders of Human Rights, have continued their support to the Rwandan government, imposing inhuman, untold and unjust suffering on the innocent Congolese people.
The United States for example, announced a series of sanctions against leaders of armed groups active in the eastern part of the DRC including military officials accused of « contributing to the escalation of the conflict » in the region. The sanctions announced included the freezing of assets held in the United States by the persons concerned as well as the ban on any American citizen or entity from trading with any of them. The ban also concerned any material support, via food, goods or services, intended for the people concerned. In reality, what we saw was more military presence of the USA in Rwanda, followed by the escalation of the war with member countries of NATO, taking publicly side with Rwanda.
We denounce all countries that continue to support the Rwandan aggression against the DRC, an Independent and Sovereign State. Any war of aggression is a crime against international peace. These repeated and brutal attacks on the DRC by Rwanda have been unprovoked, justified only by greed of Multinationals for cheap strategic minerals of our country, making Rwanda an exporter of minerals not found in its territory.
We denounce the United States of America which calls itself strategic partner of the DRC, as well as the Great Britain, France, Poland and the EU that support the Rwandan aggression against our country.
The Rwandan activities in the Virunga Park have deprived DRC of millions of dollars in lost revenue, large-scale systematic human rights violations, war crimes and crimes against humanity in the occupied territories bordering Rwanda.
The East of the Democratic Republic of Congo, which has been plagued by major international conflicts for nearly three decades, is experiencing, not only an increase in attacks against civilians by armed groups and militias, but also and above all barbaric actions of military support of the Rwandan Government, leading to terror and displacement of millions of populations while western factories are making use of blood minerals. More than 15,000,000 Congolese have lost their lives while some 27 million people – more than a quarter of the DRC’s total population – are now facing food insecurity, all for the sake of minerals being illegally exploited and plundered by Rwanda to feed the multinationals and other companies sited in Rwanda.
Your Excellencies, We, the members of the Congolese Diaspora in Nigeria, in unison and solidarity with our Congolese brothers and sisters, victims of the unjust war imposed on them by Rwanda, supported by your various Governments and Multinationals, make bold to once more assert as follows:
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! 15 MILLION CONGOLESE DEAD! MORE THAN 500,000 WOMEN RAPED! 150,000 SQUARE KILOMETERS OF THE ECOSYSTEM RAVAGED!
WAR OF PLUNDERING WITH THE BLESSING THE POWERFUL! ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!
STOP KILLING US THROUGH RWANDA TO EXPROPRIATE US OF OUR WEALTH!
Done in Lagos, February 15, 2024
For the Congolese Diaspora Community in Lagos
Madame Antho BILONGO BINTUADI
Président
